This is not a pub in the usual sense, but more of a live music venue. Whenever a band is on there is a £3 entrance charge which would preclude it from being listed here, but three nights a week (Sunday, Monday & Wednesday) there is apparently no band and no charge. That said, we were not charged on a Thursday night presumably as there were only six other punters in there, and the doorman figured someone buying some beer is better than nobody at all. The other punters didn’t seem to be taking much notice of the somewhat punky, and very loud, band, instead concentrating on their takeaway noodles and knitting (and it wasn’t some old lady doing the knitting, but a guy of about 20. Clearly he had already knitted himself a bobble hat).
The pub is split in to three areas, although not separate rooms. The largest room is in the middle, with a band area to the left and the bar counter to the right. Decor wise it’s fairly unremarkable with wood flooring and a mixture of grey and red paintwork. It had a somewhat industrial feel with large air conditioning ducting clearly on view, although these had been adorned with fairy lights.
The solitary beer on tap was Bath Ales’ Gem and the only cider was Stowford Press. There were however several far eastern lagers available.
