Actually DEMOLISHED OVER TWO YEARS AGO. Shame - it was a bloody good pub.

The Old English Gentleman was just off the town centre and it was in a nice location on the bridge next to the river Lea.
This pub used to be a McMullens tied house but by the time i had got round to visiting it the pub had been sold into the free trade.
Once inside the pub was fairly smart and comfortable and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Nethergate Old Growler this was a really nice dark porter style drink the other beers were Brakspear Special and London Pride.
I thought this was a decent pub to start my crawl in.
Sadly i have read that this pub is now closed and boarded up
