Still going strong and serving Doom Bar which to be fair was a pretty decent pint on Friday when I had to call in again to appease the other half. :-))

Converted from an excellent Indian restaurant about 12 monthe ago, Mansion is a wine bar aimed at the older end of the market. Most of the customers were middle aged couples and the music is aimed firmly at this type of customer. It's been smartly decorated with dining tables and chairs at the front and some banquette seating and booths towards the rear. It was busy without being rammed during our Friday evening visit at about 10. There's a range of top end lagers on the bar and a decent selection of wines as well. I thought this place was pretty good for a wine bar and they're definitely filling a gap in the market. The other half thought it was great though, so I suspect we'll be back next time we're in Derby.

Mansion Wine Bar is a newish bar that is fairly close to the train station.
I noticed the A board outside advertising real ales,so i decided to give this one a go.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room which had a tiled floor, the bar was on the right side and the main drinking area was on the left side which was slightly raised, this area had leather seating in bays with one table in each bay,i found sitting here a bit uncomfortable, there is a long wall mirror running down this side of the room making it look bigger than what it is, the dining areas are either side of the entrance, these areas are also slightly raised and all tables here were laid out.
There were two pumps on the bar, both having Doom Bar on,i had a drink of this and it was a decent enough drink, but it was a bit expensive at £1.75 for a half.
There were a few people dining and i found the place to be pretty laid back.
