E TA left this review about The Cliff

Previously The Nightjar, this 1960s seaside pub is built in the style of a Mediterranean hotel and sits in an expensive housing area. It is currently operated by Mitchell and Butler. There is a large car park, part of which was taped off for no obvious reason. There is a pleasant spacious garden, mostly gravelled, with tables, chairs and umbrellas for al fresco dining, very pleasant when the weather allows. There is a single large bar inside, tiled and furnished about half and half for diners and drinkers, though there are no barstools, Chesterfields being preferred here. The long counter has three handpumps, only two of which were dispensing ale in the form of Doombar and Pedigree. It’s actually quite comfortable and reasonably relaxing. The beer prices are quite low for the area, but the quality isn’t that great – both beers are over-chilled and lack proper flavour. Background music was unobtrusive, and there was free WIFi available. The staff were pleasant, the food was distinctly average. I’d be happy to drop in for a snack or a pint, but I wouldn’t include on a crawl.
