Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Canalside Bar

Unsignposted canal-side bar in the Oxley Marine yard, seemingly with a mixed clientele of boaters, towpath walkers and a few locals. Just one modestly decorated room with a pool table in the centre and cushion-covered banquette seating supplemented by a few small tables around the periphery. No real ale, unfortunately, but I ordered a John Smith's (with Carling, Guinness and Strongbow being the other draught options) before noticing that a few bottled beers (including Manns brown ale) are stocked too. NB - A members club until 2005 but now open to all.

Cracking little pub. We moored up on the tow path opposite for the night and decided to take in the local area From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. A lovely friendly atmosphere beer is average price so no shocks await your pocket. One room with bench seating and cushions all around a central pool table. Would like to say a big thank you to Jan for making us feel so welcome

A detached little canalside bar (hence the name!) with patio area. It is low level and in plain brick. The bar is one small square room, with a pool table in the centre and a dart board in the corner. The room is in white and green with some wood panel. The seating is all along the walls - along with a mass collection of cushions! some bric-a-brac lies on the window sills, some brass plates above the bar, and a few canal pictures are on the walls. There is a TV, which wasn't on and the music was general stuff at a decent level. The service was very friendly and a few mature blokes were in having a conversation at the bar. Beer; no real ale, just a basic range of kegs, with a few bottles - i had a shandy and got myself a bottle of Manns as a take-out for old times sake. A nice friendly little place that is for the boaty people (like the Captain - see review below!). A pleasant experience.

Open in the evenings during the week, and all day at weekends this bar serves a range of kegged beers, lager and cider. On my visit there was John Smith's Smooth,Guiness ,Carling with Strongbow cider.Used by both boaters and local residents, this is a small one roomed bar with a pool table surrounded by fitted bench seating and stools. There are several outside benches next to the waterfront, popular when the sun is out.The wife of the boatyard owner is a genial host. There is a trip boat and a day boat for hire.
