Will Larter left this review about Golden Ball Inn

A pleasant roadside pub in local stone, well maintained by Donnington Brewery. There are four hand pumps, with one having a reversed Old Rosie clip, and Donnington BB and Gold available. The Gold seemed completely different from the identically named beer at the Pheasant at Toddington the previous day, where it was a cold, hop-forward beer. Here it was served a few degrees warmer (more like 14 degrees than 10, in my estimation) and with the citrus dialled down. Donnington pubs seem variable despite their branding, with the beers in particular very different in both price and quality from pub to pub. This one was about average on both counts.

Revist Aug 2021: Beer wasn't as bad as last time.

Donnington pub - so knew what I would be getting - delightful location, picture postcard perfect in setting and location.

Terrible beer - and this really was beyond the pale. Donningtons is poor at the best of times but the 1/2 pint of SBA I had was beyond bad. It had only just opened, so I can only assume its either not been pulled through or its very badly kept.

Shame. 7 for the pub, 2 for the beer.

The Golden Ball is in a nice looking village which is about two miles downhill from Stow on the Wold.
This pub fronts onto the main road but there is no front door the main entrance is at the side of the pub.
Once inside the bar was to the right and this was a decent room to have a drink in there was also a small conservitory at the back of the pub this had tables and chairs in it and was more of a dining area.
This pub is a Donnington tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Donnington BB and this was a decent drink the other beer was Donnington SBA.
This is a nice pub in a nice cotswold village and it cators for drinkers and diners alike.
