Blimey - I am following in the footsteps of the great Alan Winfield!
I am doing the Donnington Way (if interested, search for Mappiman Blog) and its taking me 5 days to get through what he did in a day. I assume he had a driver. Its 62 miles :-)
This pub was closed on Monday at 12:05, despite google saying it was open. The landlady could see me trying various doors and popper her head through the window to tell me she was short staffed and couldn't single handedly open the pub herself.
On hearing of my quest, she did offer to pass me a pint through the window. Most obliged to this level of service.
The garden is very nice :-)

The Red Lion is in the small village of Little Compton that is just off the main A44.
This is a cotswold stone built pub and the main entrance is at the side of the pub,once inside there were two rooms the lounge was to the left and this looked quite a nice comfortable and cosy room but all the tables in here had reserved signs on them so we went in the bar which was a bit more basic and also had a pool table in it.
This is a Donnington tied house and there was one real ale on the bar this was Donnington BB and this was quite a nice drink.
There is a largish garden at what looks like the back of the pub and this looked very well kept.
This is mainly a pub for people having meals but the bar was for drinkers so we were happy enough having a drink in here.
