Visited on a Tuesday evening before Christmas, just before 6pm, so not mad busy but a fair crowd in with what I assume were locals round the bar and a few separate groups of people seated at the tables.

At the bar are five hand pulls offering Ushers Celtic Gold, two pumps clipped for Courage Directors, a Wainwright Arctic Chilled and one pump unclipped.

There were a couple of dogs in (of the pet variety), sports TV was on the go, and it feels like a traditional pub but with modern smart décor. As you enter the pub the bar is central, there is a further room to the left of the main entrance and another off to the far right which was unlit at the time of my visit.

The beer range was not exciting but the Celtic Gold was in good condition. It's a nice enough pub to venture into if you happen to be in the area.

We walked here along the canal tow path from Bugsworth basin and the Navigation Inn - a very pleasant walk. There are five hand pumps in the bar and a friendly welcome, but the four changing beers mentioned on WhatPub have now become just two: Courage Directors and another mainstream beer. There were also three keg beers. Sorry, craft ales. I tried the DE14 Flight Suit orange pale ale (which is brewed by Marstons), but was not terribly impressed. We were a little disappointed with the beer range but happy enough with our trip out here. (It was about to go downhill, as we waited 40 minutes for our bus to Chapel en le Frith, but that's another story.)
