Soup Dragon left this review about The Lagg Hotel

A lovely detached hotel, restaurant and bar, with dormer windows, in white render and black paint work that dates back to 1791. It sits in its own grounds, where a river runs through, which play host to weddings etc (the reason i was there).

The interior at ground level has the reception in front, with a function room at the back, a quiet lounge to the right, but the main bar and the reason for this review is just to the left on entry. The bar is in white rendered walls, with some of 'stone' along with a white ceiling fake beams on the walls and a carpet floor. There is a brick fireplace. There were local photos and some of the hotel on the walls and a few brass ornaments around. The music was general and at an ok level. The service was really good (for the whole wedding) and the clientele were of course all wedding guest apart from a couple of locals annoyed perhaps that they had been put out!

Beer; all keg, no real ale apart from bottles. Belhaven Best and Tennents 80/- were on, both of which were as fine as they can be really.

A nice hotel, sadly no real ale on, but still worth a visit when looking at the local burial chamber. A great wedding venue and i can't praise the food and service highly enough.
