E TA left this review about The Cross Keys

A rough and ready 1950s estate pub with little charm and a barely perceptible level of tolerance for visitors. The building is square and unattractive, while the gravel car park at the front doubles as an over-sized ash tray. Only half the ground floor is in use, which forms a single main bar with a small games area behind. A large ugly gas fire heated the room well above what is comfortable for normal humans. There is pool and darts in the games room, and a second dart board in the main part. No real ale, no real cider, not even a half-decent bottled beer, just megakeg offerings and cheap spirits and shots. There really is no point making the effort.

Licence suspended for one month due to violence, closed

"A PUB with a violent reputation, leading to one councillor branding it the ‘Wild West’ of Paulsgrove, has had its licence suspended.

Portsmouth City Council’s licensing sub-committee took the drastic move to temporarily close The Cross Keys, in Birdlip Road, yesterday morning."
