Back again and a beer this time. I learnt something new - a well kept Pedigree is a joy to behold. I always thought it was eggy.
1575 coaching house - lots of space and very friendly staff who try to make you welcome.
Food was good again. Lamb Kleftiko in Derbyshire!

Called in after our visit to the Royal Hotel nice enough place might have been a Marston,s managed house once. Not anybody eating but a good few in the bar all seemed good sort of guy,s mixed age group and having fun talking what more can a man want on a Sunday dinner time will call back.

A low-beamed old stone-built hotel in the part of Hayfield that has been cut off by the by-pass. There are some interesting stained glass windows, an old kitchen range in the lounge and leather seats throughout (chairs, pouffes and stools). The overall feel is of a very pleasant and comfortable place for a drink.
This is a Marstons house, but the beers were from Titannic, Banks's and Evan Evans of Llandeilo. Some offensively intrusive piped music was a real downside for me, but visual interest was provided by some photos of "old Hayfield" and some modern arty stuff - a very dramatic picture of Kinder Downfall was a standout.

The George Hotel is a decent looking stone built pub that is set on a slight hill.
Once inside the pub had a very cosy feel to it with comfortable seating and a nice beamed ceiling, the pub used to be a Burtonwood tied house but it is now run by Marstons.
There were two real ales on the bar and i had a drink of Exmoor Gold and this was a very nice well kept pint the other beer was Banks's bitter.
I quite liked this pub but it was a bit quiet on my Friday dinner visit.
