A thatched roadside inn, also a village pub. The large carpark is entered across a tight bridge across the Bourne, and there is an extensive children’s play area. The main business nowadays is food, most of the bar being laid to table, and a small function room at the side usually serving as a more formal restaurant. The floors are flagged, there are structural timbers on display and there is a relatively modern fireplace at one end of the long, narrow bar. Food is excellent, cooked from scratch, but not that cheap normally, though they do hold food theme nights which are less expensive. Two ales on, both from Stonehenge. My pint of Pigswill was in good condition, but maybe a bit too cool. Worth coming here for a meal or a pint, and worth deviating from the nearby A303 for a pitstop.
