I'm not a great fan of cellar bars but made an exception here. It consists of two rooms and is fairly dimly lit. It was busy on a Friday evening.
I got a seat in the front room where the bar is but couldn't see all four clips in the dim light. I managed to make out a Brewsmiths Gold (£3.40) which was cheaper than expected and in good nick. I thought this place seemed reasonable.

Located in the basement of the former Manchester & Salford's Children mission building. The entrance is a one door affair, descending down a steep stairwell into a well lit lounge and bar, which had white glazed Victorian tiled walls. The place was very busy on our visit, but nevertheless fellow drinkers were very courteous when manoeuvring away from the bar with our drinks. Four handpumps, all in use, so we went for the Northern Brewing Co Sputnik, which set us back at £4.65 a pint. There was a further back room, but as expected, this was full on our Friday eve visit.

On the way down to this cellar bar you encounter large white tiling, and this also dominates the basement interior. There are a series of benches on the way to the bar at the end of the first section you come to ,there's not a lot of natural light and it's noisy when busy. The lack of space causes a queue to form to get served but at least this preserves order. There were 10 keg options on my trip and 4 ales with a selection of Brewsmith Gold,North Sputnik,Beatnikz Republic Leather Soul and Pomona Island Pale Simcoe (good form). There is also a ton of gin choices.
Along a drinking corridor there is a large square back room with picture windows and a Aga set in a former fireplace.Benches and traditional tables here .
My visit was after work on a Friday,it was packed so time your visit here if that would bother you.Like Rob below,I appreciated a focus on Locales with some unusual choices which made the visit worthwhile.

Sadly only two of the four hand pulls were on during my visit last Saturday but I stand by my previous review - usually an interesting selection of ales. On Saturday the cask ales were West Of The Sun by Torrside, and some 3.3% Table Beer.

I shall be back.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Gaslamp

Inconspicuous cellar bar near the Albert Bridge. Although the white-glazed bricks in the bar and Back Parlour don't exactly give a homely feel, the place has a good atmosphere with conversation being the order of the day. Three of four handpumps in use when I called in, with Brewsmith Brown Ale (£3.40), Kirkstall Citra Session IPA and Pamona NZ Pale on offer.

I like the Gaslamp. Have been a handful of times over the past few years and decided it was time to refresh my memory last Friday lunchtime. I was the first customer in at 1pm but it started to fill up shortly after, so I timed it just right I think. Four hand pumps at the bar, at the time of ordering one of these was still being pulled through. I had the Kirkstall Mosaic Session IPA which I think was £1.85 for a half. Nice ale, not overpowering, as you would expect for a session. By the time I was ready for another the fourth ale was on and when I noticed it was Dry Stone Stout by Hawkshead I decided it was the one to go for. Superb. The others available were something by Abbeydale and something by Squawk (possibly a red).

The tables have a menu on which lists the regular bottled beers they have available (as well as non-beer drinks).

An interesting place, good ales, well worth a visit. Free Wi-Fi if you like that kind of thing.

Not quite as good as the Brink, but not bad. My beer of choice had just gone off, so I had the more expensive Blackjack Deerhunter. Despite the coffee influence I found it OK. Worth a revisit.

The inside of this place reminds you of a public toilet with its white tiled brickwork. It a decent little place with two rooms, one of which is designated as the parlour. 3 real ales where on on this visit. Lots of bottled beers available. Its easily missed even with the sign above the entrance.

Still going strong Arbor Oyster Stout & Black Jack The Pokies on the bar last night. Both in excellent nick.

An excellent pint of Brightside Spinning Top in here last night. They now have a pub sign outside, so it's not as difficult to find.

Newly opened cellar bar down through a plain doorway on Bridge Street (look for the "A" board outside). Two rooms separated by a drinking corridor. The bar is the first right as you get to the bottom of the steps. The main room is covered in white tiles and is mainly dining tables and chairs with a bench or two. The rear room has more comfortable seating and is more like a lounge. Pleasantly busy and buzzy when we called at about 7 last Saturday. All the seating in the bar area was taken. Two cask ales on the bar, on Saturday these were Two Towers Mild & Brazen and Saltaire Raspberry Blonde. I had a pint of each, both were well kept. Cask ales are served in a dimpled pint pot in here. The other liked the wine as well. It's a good little bar and one we'll certainly call in again.
