Steve C left this review about Hudson's Wine Bar

Hudsons is a wine and Cocktail bar that also has Fosters, Heineken and Strongbow available on draught alongside the dreaded Surger Guinness. The food that I saw advertised this afternoon seemed to mainly consist of baguettes for around £3.50 and light lunches for around £7. I didn’t eat, but I did overhear a couple that had been dining give high praise to the food. I only stayed for a half of Fosters that was served by one of the very friendly barmen and set me back £1.80, ouch! There is an extensive shooter and cocktail menu and they come in at around £2.50 and £5.50 respectively. Sunday to Friday reduced price refills on cocktails are available, but I don’t know how much the discount is. The actual bar has three steps up to the entrance from the street outside and there is a café table with a couple of chairs either side of the front door. Inside, there area a couple of high glass top tables with chairs adjacent to the glass frontage and some sofas with low glass top tables are found in the front half of the bar. Behind these are some contemporary glass top tables and chairs and then the bar is on the back wall. Some canvasses hang from the walls and there are four ceiling fans that make up the minimal decorative features. There are no TVs in here and Jazz FM was playing quietly in the background. The opening times are midday until midnight with later opening at the weekend, but I’m not sure how late.
I had scanned the website where the owners promote this place as a Flair Bar, so I had visions of barmen who love themselves flinging cocktail shakers around whilst the pretentious totty of Eastbourne lovingly looked on and the likes of me stood thirsty at the bar, but I actually kind of liked it in here and I hate cocktail/wine bars. Granted I did visit on a very quiet Monday afternoon and this is probably not the place for me in the evening, but I would have no problem popping back in here for some lunch with the misses at some point.
