Managed to be passing this one just as it was opening and thought I would reacquaint myself. I was lucky as It still doesn’t open till 4pm, even on a bank holiday. Much as I remember it from 10 years ago and still four ale pumps on the bar. My memo fades but the 2 banks of keg taps seemed to have a stronger range of craft options nowadays.
All three ales were from Bristol with two from Arbor plus Bristol Beer Factory Independence Pale Ale and a cider on the fourth. I went for the BBF and it was good to enjoy it in a more pub type atmosphere before the eating hordes arrived.

The Vine was closed for a few weeks when I visited the town, certainly an impressive tiled exterior. I look forward to visiting if I return to Cheltenham.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Vine

A very attractive looking corner pub with Victorian style glazed green tiling on the outside, it’s perhaps not quite as traditional inside as you might expect, but is nonetheless still very pleasant with quite a cosy ambience and the bar staff were helpful and friendly.

Décor wise it’s all quite dark with some sort of black tiling on the floor and very dark green paint on the walls. There was some areas of exposed brickwork towards the rear, large globe lamps hanging above the bar and church candles on all the tables. Seating was provided by old church chairs, and only the large illuminated teddy bear behind the bar counter looked a little out of place.

The only beer I noted was Bristol Beer Factory’s Fortitude, although there was also something from Arbor and another from Deya, which is a new one on me but was very pleasant. Ciders were well represented with Hogan’s, Dunkerton’s Craft Organic and Iford New Tradition. All in all, a very pleasant pub and well worth a visit.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Vine

This pub has an excellent example of Victorian glazed tiles on the exterior, which also continued into the corner entrance lobby. There was some stained glass above the door frame which was also original. Another unusual feature was the bar counter top that was constructed from a solid piece of Scott's pine. This heavy piece of timber had a bull nose edge and a lip on the top to stop any glasses or bottles from sliding off the bar, which was quite unique and I haven't seen anything like that elsewhere. Four handpumps on our visit, one of which was a cider. The Cotswold Shagweaver was the regular and it was in good shape. The barmaid who was on duty wasn't friendly and didn't engage in any conversation, even though we were the only ones in at 4pm, when they opened. The Thai food theme mostly prevailed in here, but if you're going to serve three beers and act as a pub, at least try and make an effort with visiting drinkers.

As mentioned despite it's lovely exterior the pub has been bastardised into a Thai themed eatery which still acts as a pub but is a let down as you expect a proper pub from the outside but are sadly left disappointed.

There is a good selection of real ale none the less.

As the previous review states this looks like a traditional Victorian boozer , but inside more of a bistro , very busy on my Thursday night visit mainly with diners eating the very nice looking Thai food , we only wanted a drink and were welcomed as such and allowed to prop up the bar along with a couple of chatty locals , 3 handpulls on , 1 with Old Rosie Cider , 1 with Doombar and the other with a very good North Cotswold Shagweaver servrd by the friendly staff , one of whom looked like a young Agnetha from ABBA so extra marks there .

From the outside it looks like an old school Victorian boozer with period green and red tiling. Inside its more of a modern French style bistro with a minimalist décor of painted wood panel walls, exposed brick fireplace, stone flagged floor and plain wooden tables and chairs.
Seems to focus more on food than wet sales and a Thai menu was being promoted. There are four pumps on the bar, one for Old Rosie Cider and then three Ale pumps. Hook Norton Hooky , Doombar and Cotswold Spring Brewery Stunner were on for my visit and the latter was a good pint.
Most people in on Saturday lunch timer were eating , thus leading me to believe this is probably more utilised for its food, especially also as it doesn’t open till 4.30pm on a Monday to Thursday and the Kitchen open times almost mirror the pub opening times but I found it comfortable enough for a pint, but if I was to return I would favour the nearby Swan as perhaps more of a pub.

A traditional looking pub on the outside, but quite modern inside. This is a good place to spend an evening in pleasant surroundings.
The pub has quite a long history, in the 1990's, the pub was known as Cactus Jacks, but it is probably most fondly remembered as The Copper's Arms. There is a car park near by.
