Will Larter left this review about Ye Olde Spa Inn

I remember this pub from when my brother used to live nearby, more than 25 years ago. It's an amalgamation of a couple of buildings set back from the road in a pleasant part of town. There are several different rooms, including one to the rear that seems likely to be used for functions or gigs, and a snug to the right of the entrance, though as with all the other once separate rooms, this one no longer has a door, or indeed the wall to hang it in.

The bar is centrally placed and quite small (the rear room has an additional servery), but with half a dozen hand pumps. Regular beers appear to be Bass, Doom Bar and Castle Rock Harvest Pale, with guests coming from the SIBA list: I had Kelburn Dark Moor, which was very good. The landlord is very engaging, and during my brief stay several people popped their heads around the door and were greeted like old friends, even though they weren't stopping for a drink.

There are some interesting old tiles on the floors and in the toilets, if you like that sort of thing, and this is a decent place to spend some time over a few beers. It was quite busy at the time of my visit with families on Sunday afternoon outings, and this is clearly a locals pub and an asset to the area.
