Will Larter left this review about The Parish

My visit to the Parish found it very quiet, in the sense that I was the only customer, but I have to say I have not heard such loud and challenging music at 11am on a weekday before. To be fair, it wasn't uncomfortably loud, and I settled down at one of the tables and made myself at home. There are six hand pumps, with two having their pump clips turned around (one being Timothy Taylor Landlord). The beers that were on were Robinsons Trooper (inspired by Iron Maiden, doncha know) and those depicted in my photo. I had Sheffield Brewery's Trail Ale, which was in pretty good shape, though not particularly to my taste. At £3.20 a pint, this pub was slightly more expensive than the average on my day out in Huddersfield. I noted that 33cl cans from Vocation were available at £3.50. I imagine that the Parish is popular with students and lovers of heavy metal.

I have been to the Parish hundreds of times for gigs, meals and pre-exam drinks. I love the place as it always has a laid back vibe, friendly bar staff and great music in the venue, recently the bar has gone a little bit more mainstream but that has not affected how the place is. I can recommend the food especially the burgers 'The Squealer' and 'Bourbon Baby' as they are amazing. The drinks on offer are great with a nice selection of Craft IPAs from Vocation and Brew Dog.

Its apparently a music venue though it is open all day. Lots of music related posters dotted around with your usual rock kinda thing displayed. Yet again no Half Man Half Biscuit or Sonic Youth but hey ho. Several handpumps dispensing real ale. Open plan and all wooden and tiled floors. Writing sh*te on the tables seems to be popular.

Called The Parish or perhaps The Parish Pump as on the sign. An open plan pub with a u-shaped barcounter towards the back of the room, here we find five pulls of good Yorkshire ale plus one of Robinsons. The unusual counter front is made up of mirrors and wooden blocks. Furniture wise its a mix of wooden and cast iron tables with seats and benches. Decor is provided by music pictures, it's a live music venue, and pump clips although this is not an extreme real ale pub but is worth a visit.

The Parish is situated close to a busy road junction.
Once inside there is a single room which runs the width of the pub,the room is bare boarded and roughly divided into two areas, there is bench seating and normal tables and chairs to the right, there is a pool table on the left side.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of beer called Stop for Army which was a decent drink, but not sure who brews it,the other beers were Saltaire Blonde and Saltaire Rasberry Blonde.
The pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
