Moby Duck left this review about The Station Inn

A tradtional looking town pub close to the train station as its name suggests, the floor is stone tiled the rest of the decor is smart but basic, with TVs on the wall and some upcoming Karaoke night posters dotted around.
Four handpumps with Landlord, Bass and Pedigree available with a turned Abbot clip on the fourth handle. It's a basic pub aimed at the locals but not somewhere I'd particularly rush back to, its fine for what it is though.

Reopened 30th September 2022 after four years of closure. A detailed report of the refurbishment, including photos, can be seen at the Derby Telegraph online: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink/gallery/sneak-peek-inside-derby-pub-7642079. "Three new TVs have been installed which will show Sky Sports and BT Sport coverage of football, cricket and rugby. The venue will also have regular entertainment nights with karaoke and singers booked in to perform." Beers include Pedigree, Landlord, Abbot and Bass.

I called in here about a year ago to find no beer on hand pumps at all. I enquired of the woman at the bar if they were still doing Bass from the cellar. She said she was going to see how it went, a meaningless reply since if it's not available then the demand will surely dry up. Others, like me, will instead go to more reliable pubs like the Brunswick and the Alexandra. I called around again last week to see how it's going, and was not at all surprised to see the pub closed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Station Inn

Interesting, old-fashioned pub. Opened out inside at some stage to leave a 'L'-shaped room with fairly basic furniture and decor in the bar, but a well-lit counter and a more comfortable (if darker) side seating area. Also has a rear lounge with a pool table, but this is not obvious to the first-time visitor. None of the four handpumps were working on this visit, but thankfully the much anticipated Bass was still being served from the jug on the back shelf behind the counter (£3.20).

It's all change at The Station. David has retired to Skegness and a new couple have taken over the pub. They have plans to make much more use of the function room at the rear and to take the radical step of leaving the door open!!! They also plan to get another handpump in use, sadly they look like choosing Sharps Doombore as the new ale. Draught Bass, Old Speckled Hen and Doombore isn't going to set the pulses racing in Derby. We'll have to see how it goes, we'll call in next time we're in Derby.

We always call in here when we're in Derby. Called in last weekend for a couple of pints of Bass and a chat with David. I used to work in Derby a few years ago and got to know him then. He hasn't changed, the door was still shut. It's a great little pub and both the pub and David are a dying breed, long may they both continue.

Traditional local, close to the station as you would expect. I used to call in here on my way back to the hotel when staying in Derby. Called in on Saturday and nothing had changed. Always has well kept Bass served from a metal jug which was excellent on Saturday (I don't know if Soupy & OB missed that as it's never on the handpump), usually has Cally Deuchars or XPA or both on tap. Great place to go if Derby County are playing as the landlord doesn't let any dipsticks in and you can have a quiet couple of pints talking with the sensible fans and the regulars. The door was closed as usual on Saturday but a friendly knock will get you in. People's opinions differ about this pub and the landlord, but I like it.

I have called in here between trains on a few occasions recently. Like other reviewers, I initially missed the fact that Bass was available "from the jug" and ordered a half of Wells Bombardier, not by any means a favourite brew. What a surprise: this was in such good condition that it probably qualifies as the best ordinary brown bitter I've tasted so far this year. Others on hand pump were Marstons Pedigree with Caledonian Deuchars due on next.

I regretted missing the Bass and so made a point of calling again "between trains" (it's only three minutes from the station). I'm glad I did, because the Bass, although lacking some of the character of past years, was also in superb condition, brought from the cellar in a large metal jug.

It's very pleasant and comfortable here, as described by other reviewers, and a "must visit" if you've as little as 15 minutes to wait for your connection. The couple that run this place, Dave & Lynn, deserve every credit for an excellent little pub.

This traditional pub just up from Derby rail station has recently been redecorated inside and out. Still has Bass from the jug aswell as three other ales on handpump, one being Deuchars IPA. very friendly landlord and other locals on our visit. Doors still kept locked but the landlord soon opened the doors for us despite not being in there before. The good conversation and the very nice Bass meant we stayed quite a bit longer than intended.

A small terraced Enterprise Inn, in half brick, half render.

The interior was open plan, with a pool table at one end and the bar area, with nice wood bar and green seats, at the other. The decor was mainly red, wallpaper and plain wall, with some wood panel. Decoration was supplied by a few mirrors, framed certificates and prints. Service was friendly enough, with no other sole in the place, other than myself and Mr Hackwood.

Beer; tap stuff, with an untried Deuchars IPA and a reasonable Hobgoblin on handpull. A third pull, that generally held Bass, was not on.

A solid kind of place without being spectacular, happy to visit it, but a place you tend to stay for one.

Old Boots left this review about Station Inn

Pleasant, quiet pub obviously near the station but not the closest to it. A plain victorianish interior of two rooms knocked into one. An area with pool table occupies one end while the bar counter and comfortable pub like furnishing take up the other. Three handpumps with Bass, Deuchars IPA and Hobgoblin being served although the Bass wasn't on when I visited. A fairly typical range of keg lager, stout and cider. The Deuchars was in fine condition even for such a mediocre beer. Solicitous landlord but a lack of customers on the wet lunchtime I was there.

An interesting old school boozer with an interesting old school guv'nor. I just had to try the Bass poured from a jug bought from the cellar, haven't seen that in years, damn good it was too. Front bar has a pool table plus fruit and quiz machines for the office crowd and I think there is a rear lounge.
