Attractive old pub which makes a pretty decent Spoons. I failed to note the beer range but I do know that my pint of Pheonix brewery Boss Man's brew was in good shape.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Green Dragon (JD Wetherspoon)
Fine old building with plenty of exposed timberwork on the façade and inside. The interior has been thoroughly refurbished by Wetherspoon, but not fully opened out, so there are various different seating / dining areas which still retain a semi-traditional feel. I found a duplicated selection of the expected Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot trio supplemented with Burton Bridge Festival Ale (£2.10) and Wobbly Bob from Phoenix on the two banks of five handpumps.

A large sprawling Wethers. The servery is through the main door, past the thingy room, turn left, go through the gap, enter a large room and there in front of you is the bar. There could possibly be another entrance. Either way, the bar had 10 handpumps and a fairly decent selection. I liked this Wethers and, not that I'll ever be back to Leek, I'd recommend it.

Large Wetherspoon's with a modern interior in an old building. Several large rooms connecting through with the bar right at the back. Benefits from having an outdoor area in the courtyard. Range of beers seemed fair, otherwise fairly typical.

This is a newish Spoons dating from Summer 2013 and was originally another pub, something that isn't immediately obvious after their refurbishment. It consists of a room at the front with mainly small tables and some alcoves. The bar is at the back in another room with a paved patio to the left. On my Saturday lunchtime visit it was quite busy with a variety of people. The bar has two sets of five hand pumps, one set had the two GK beers, Lymestone Einstein and Slater's Queen Bee & Western American IPA. The other set had the International Hook Norton San Diego Pale, Adnam's Broadside, Beartown Black Bear and Titanic Iceberg & Plum Porter. I make that five Locale beers with no doubling up and only one of the boring three nationals.
I went for the Slater's Western American IPA Which was in very good nick.
This is a well above average Spoons that in most towns the size of Leek would probably be GBG listed but it's up against some very strong contenders.

From the main entrance we found a small snug on the left and a small enclosed room on the right, partitioned with glass frames. The middle lounge area had low beamed ceilings and a stone flag floor. The main bar area from this was finished with oak flooring and the paintwork was finished in a slate greys and purples. There was a large beer garden to the left of this, which was busy on our Saturday lunchtime visit.
Disappointed not to see any local ales on this visit. However, we went for London Pride and Mauldon's Silver Adder.

The Green Dragon is one of Leek's oldest pubs and is a 2 storey Grade 2 listed building dating back to the mid 1500's.Up till recently it was called the Swan (With darter Eric Bristow in charge at one stage)and the Green Dragon name chosen as it was the earliest known name of the pub.Following a 1.4 Million pound plush restoration the pub re-opened in July 2013 with care making sure the ancient core of the building remained intact.
The first room you meet on entry is of medium size with a flagged floor,leather seating,dark wooded furniture and an open fire.The bar is situated in a larger room forward of this which is reached throw an archway.This room has smart furniture with a selection of high tables,wood flooring and a granite topped bar,and to the left of this is an outdoor courtyard area.
Called in early doors on a Tuesday and surprisingly only around 7 customers in attendance,and although there was only a standard assortment of cask beers on show the staff seemed friendly and efficient,and although unusual nowadays I was offered a choice of straight or barrel glass.Quite liked this one and it is certainly one of JDW's better conversions.

The Swan is on the corner of st edward street and mill street.
This pub has got a black and white brewers tudor frontage making this pub look fairly nice from the outside.
Once inside this pub it was very smart and carpeted throughout.
There was a good choice of beers on here with 5 real ales on the bar i had a drink of Everards Tiger bitter which was a decent drink the other beers were Flowers bitter, Mauldens Black Adder, Brakspear bitter and Bombadier.
This pub catered mainly for older people who like to have a meal and a drink.
I thought this was a decent cosy and comfortable pub to have a drink in.
