Wangies is a live music pub that has a Pirate, Tiki, Day of the Dead theme going on. To be honest I thought they’d forgotten to take down the Halloween decoration from last year. Through the entrance to the left is a raised seating area where some DJ equipment was also set up. To the right of the entrance is more seating that is faced by the L-shaped bar. The are three hand pumps, one of which was unused which left Old Rosie and Lillies Cherries ciders as the cask options. There is also a standard keg range. At the rear of the pub is a back bar with a pool table, dartboard and plenty of standing room.

Once the Oddfellows, this pub was always known locally as Wangies, so the name was changed. On the day I visited this pub they were celebrating "National Talk Like A Pirate Day". This meant that the landlord, landlady and their daughter were all dressed as pirates. Pirates of the Caribbean was on the video screens and all the pubs music was pirate based. They were also having a live band on that evening, also with a pirate theme. All good fun if a little disconcerting when you first walk in. As you enter there's a lounge to the right and the stage area to the left which is also a lounge when not being used by a band. To the rear there's a tap room with a waist high dividing wall with a pool table on one side and darts and a pinball machine on the other. 4 handpumps on the bar serving 3 beers from the Marston's stable plus Hornbeam Voyager which was a very good pint. The staff were all friendly as were the locals. This is a very good community pub. It's also , quite rightly in the CAMRA GBG2015.

When i visited this pub it was called the Oddfellows Arms, the pub is situated almost opposite the Bird in Hand.
Once inside the pub had two seperate rooms i had a drink in the room at the front which was the bar, this was a basic room but decent enough, there was a seperate lounge to the rear.
The pub was a Greenall Whitley tied house at the time of my visit, there was one real ale on the bar, this was Greenalls bitter which was a decent enough drink.
This was a proper drinkers pub that is situated in an area of Eccles which is packed with pubs.

Pub first visited 21/3/1987
