Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Tavern
Sensibly now with an abbreviated name to distinguish it from the (temporarily closed?) Railway Inn much closer to the station. Anyway, it's a traditional locals pub but with a very unusual appearance due to the tall 21/2-story part a the front and the lower rear part and single-storey conservatory extension on the right-hand side. Also has a good number of outdoor tables. Bass (£4.70), Pedigree and Old Rosie cider on the three handpumps.

A nice roadside pub with a strong local feel. Decor is fairly traditional - perhaps a few too many fairy lights - and it has darts in the main area and pool in the conservatory extension. Very friendly and with a well-run feel, despite a slight altercation with a locked door trying to get in! The beer range varies - majoring on a well-kept Bass for this visit but apparently often including some (other) local brews. A good solid pub.

At the time of my visit, the Railway Tavern, as it was then named, had just been taken over by a new licensee, who was friendly and welcoming. My notes made at the time tell me that the place was due to be refurbished and a change of name to just The Tavern was being mooted (possibly because of confusion with the Railway Inn less than a mile away). My notes, recently discovered in a notebook that I had misplaced, don't mention what beers were on when I was here - I think maybe just the one - but it's a Marstons pub and Pedigree is always on, and in very good condition for my visit. Maybe it's due a revisit.

An interesting build with a front gable making it a bit like a doll's house along with older and modern extensions. There is a patio. The main room has been opened out and is in various colours. It has a dart board, a TV (not on) and soft background music. There are some weird fairy lights as well. Various photos dot the walls, many choo-choo related. The conservatory has a pool table. Beer has the usual tap stuff with the ubiquitous Pedigree in these parts and an OK Brakky Oxford Gold. Happy for one.

The Railway Tavern is just down from salt box corner,it is a Marstons house and the Pedigree was ok but nothing special it was a smallish pub but has had a large conservatory added to the side of the pub.
There was mostly youngish locals in late saturday afternoon, this is not a pub i would be going to again.
