Will Larter left this review about The Peacock Inn

Although the sign outside says Marstons, this pub is free of tie and has only Pedigree from that pub company's stable on the bar. There are six other ales on hand pump, with two more, and two ciders, being available from the barrel. There were two Whim beers, Arbor Light and IPA, Bass, Burton Bridge Bramble Stout, Oakham Bishops Farewell, Marble Dobber and Partners Ghost; the house beer Peacock Pale Ale, brewed by Leatherbritches of Ashbourne, is abbreviated to PPA. The couple running the pub used to have the nearby Smithfield, so there's a lot of experience in running an ale house behind this newer venture. It was quiet at the time of my visit, apart from Jimi Hendrix and other electric blues artists on the CD player, that is. The pub's location means that there's not much of an after-work passing trade, most regulars making a special effort to get here past the barrier of Derby's horrendous ring road system.

Various notices around the bar announce items of interest, such as live blues on Wednesday evenings, parking permits available at the bar, a beer garden and smoking area at the back, and even secure bike parking. Pies and filled rolls are available. My half of Bramble Stout was a little more expensive than some of the admittedly very cheap beers that I'd encountered on my brief tour of Derby, but I wouldn't let that put me off adding this to my list of reasons to visit Derby again soon.

The Peacock is a nice looking stone built pub that is situated quite close to the city centre but is cut off from it by the inner ringroad.
This pub has always been a Marstons tied house,in the 80s this pub along with the Liversage and Exeter Arms formed what was calld the Marstons triangle.
Once inside the pub is pretty much unchanged, the front bar is oblong in shape with the bar facing,it is bare boarded and had comfy bench seating with small stools, there is a seperate room to the rear which is down a few steps, the outside seating area looks quite nice and was very busy on my dinnertime visit.
There were about 7 real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Oakham Bishops Farewell which was a really nice drink, the other beers that i noted were Whim Hartington IPA,Whim Arbour light,Pedigree,Bass and Leatherbritches Peacock Ale.
This is a really nice pub to have few drinks, its just a shame that you have to walk under roads if coming from the city centre.

Stone built pub dating back to the 18th century. As you enter the bar is directly in front of you and there are tables & chairs around the walls. To the right there's a door leading to a further room at the back also with access to the bar. There's also a large beer garden at the rear which is partially covered. There were 7 ales available on our visit of which several are changing guests alongside a real cider. We tried two of the beers and both were in very gooc condition. The front room was very full on our Friday evening visit, so we went and sat in the rear room where we were greeted by a very large (and a bit smelly) dog. It's quite rightly listed in the CAMRA GBG2013. I suspect that this won't be our last visit.

This 2013 Good Beer Guide pub finished our Derby crawl and was another pub we had not been in before. It is an 18th century stone built pub, and has 2 rooms on different levels divided by a central bar. There are wooden floors and stove burners, and plenty of old Derby memorabilia. Plenty of real ales, but as it was our last of the day we stayed with the Phoenix Flash Flood. There was a garden area under cover at the back, and I believe beer festivals are held here too.
