The Sherwood Inn (The Sherwood Bin as it is known between Sherwood locals) is a very rough and ready boozer located along Sherwood High Street. To say Sherwood is geographically the closest drinking destination to my house and probably where I spend the lion’s share of my regular drinking time this has always been one of the places I have avoided and very seldom ever choose to visit. The pub is very old dating back well over a hundred years the facade is much more modern and incredibly ugly with large breeze blocks painted a ghastly shade of dark green. The pub as two parts, a bar and a lounge that are entered through separate door although doors inside let you stagger between the two. The lounge is now no longer open and this has been the vase for a good few months which I can only put down to there not being enough custom but I have seen it open so maybe just for special events. This is a shame as it seems much comfier than the bar room. On my visit only the bar room was open and this is a very drab place to be, all cheap hard plastic floors or lino throughout with the bar running along half of the right hand side and bending around the corner. It looks like this used to be three separate rooms that have now all been knocked through into one. The left hand side of the main bar houses a pool table and a large plasma TV and has some comfier bench seating with a few scattered tables and chairs throughout but a lot of people stand and congregate around the bar area. Beer wise the selection is terrible with only the standard keg selection available. I went for a Chestnut mild but was told it was off so settled for a john smiths. Johns is advertised outside at £2.30 a pint but I was charged £8.50 for 2 john smiths and a Guinness so unless Guinness is £3.90 (of course it’s not, this place is a dive pub with rock bottom prices to attract the scrotes of Sherwood) I was overcharged but this really isn’t the place to kick up a fuss. They probably thought I could afford it seeing as I had full set of teeth and showered that day. We drank our drinks and played a game of pool before leaving. The only thing I liked was the Jukebox that played rock and roll classics and seemed to be popular with some of the women who danced in the center of the pub all evening. Overall a very rough and ready pub with a lot of shady character. I have heard many a story about fights and violence in this pub and seen on a number of occasions myself police called because of trouble. I was dragged here one bank holiday evening but I will not be making it a regular haunt. I knew a few people in there but would not advise people from out of the area to go here, really is one to a void

The Sherwood Inn is a decent sized pub that is situated in sherwooods main shopping area.
When i first visited this pub it was a Bass tied house with keg Bass beers on the bar,i have been it a few times over the years,when i went in it in 2006 it had a couple of real ales on the bar.
Once inside the pub still has two seperate rooms i went in the larger room to the left,this room is L shaped and bare boarded to the front and carpeted to the rear right,there was a pool table to the left and comfy bench seating to the rear right.
The room to the right was out of use on my visit
There were two pumps on the bar both unclipped,this left me with the choice of John Smiths smooth crap or nothing i went for the John Smiths smooth crap which lived up to its name.
There was some very good music blasting out from the Doors.
The pub was fairly busy with very rough customers who seemed a bit drunk on my Tuesday afternoon visit.
I seemed to be accepeted by this rough crowd,but i would not advise anyone from outside the area or people of a nervous disposition to visit this pub.
