Pub SignMan left this review about Pitcher & Piano

One of numerous bars along Wind Street, but the Pitcher and Piano pre-dates many of them and was already reasonably well established in the late ‘90’s when the area really started to take off as a city centre rival to the famous Mumbles Mile. This place doesn’t really differ from other bars from this particular chain, offering a comfortable, contemporary longue bar with mainstream products on tap. Everything is painted in light neutral shades, with laminate flooring and a wide range of seating options including some very comfortable padded benches and sofas. Walls are decorated with an eclectic mix of pictures and a few mirrors, whilst the most striking feature is a small recess accessed through an oval shaped archway. To the rear, there is an outdoor patio area with a surprising amount of additional seating and loads more of those mirrors to admire yourself in. We popped in here for a quick pint on a desperately quiet Sunday evening, but found the place nice and comfortable with a soundtrack worth listening to, so we ended up seeing out the rest of the night here. The friendly barman was also something not normally associated with the binge drink bars of Wind Street.
Two turned hand pumps meant that I was reduced to choosing something from a fairly standard keg range, but I found myself quite enjoying a few pints of Budvar – it was a very hot day after all, so maybe lager was what I really needed.
This place doesn’t set the world alight, but it is a notch or two higher than most of the bars in its vicinity and if something decent crops up on the hand pumps, it might just be worth giving a go between visits to the No Sign Wine Bar and Wetherspoons on either side.
