Old Boots left this review about The Benjamin Fawcett (JD Wetherspoon)

In a relatively new building the inside has been done out with a lot of old dark wood and old brown furniture. Decor wise it’s earlier’spoons with lots of local or not, famous people and a fair bit related to RAF Driffield. Big long room downstairs, toilets upstairs. Two groups of five pumps, usuals plus Rev James doubled, Oakham JHB and Titanic Plum Porter as a choice. My JHB was very good, the pub is GBG2023 listed. Standard but worthy ‘spoons.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Benjamin Fawcett (JD Wetherspoon)

This branch of Wetherspoon's appears to be a fairly modern build, but apparently was a pub previously.

It was packed on my Friday evening visit, with pretty much all of the tables taken in the simple, long, spacious and open-plan room. As usual, toilets were upstairs.

Service was fairly efficient and it wasn't long before I'd manage to bag a table at the far end of the room and I was drinking my Old Rosie cider. Ales were the usual Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar, with a couple of guests - Brightside Grafters & Cameron's Strongarm.

It was noisy in here. A few people were eating, but this was mainly a Friday evening drinking crowd, with a mixture of all ages. Some of the old folk hadn't yet gone home and the youngsters were already out.

A reasonable choice for Driffield, but I much prefer the Butcher's Dog which I visited the last time I was in the town 3 years ago.

Standard Spoons - one large room with bar to left. Smoking area to rear. Usual selection of real ales on offer.

Aqualung . left this review about The Benjamin Fawcett (JD Wetherspoon)

This is a red brick building that is said to be an amalgam of two former pubs but doesn't really look like it. Inside it's a fairly typical large rectangular room with a low ceiling, a patio at the rear and the usual fixtures and fittings.
The bar is on the left and has ten hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom, RCH East Street, Caledonian Seasoned Traveller IPA, Hop Studio Dubbel, Rudgate Valkyrie APA & Lollipop, North Somerset OSM and White Horse Blowing Stone. I went for the RCH one which was in good nick. I thought this was a decent Spoons.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Benjamin Fawcett (JD Wetherspoon)

The interior of this Spoons was very poorly illuminated and what with the dark stained woodwork, made it even darker. In spite of this pub being located at the far end of town, it was still full on our Saturday lunchtime visit. The pub consisted of six sections, the front porch area, then a section with the staircase up to the loos, then four seat oblong seating areas on the right, finishing at the rear patio doors. The bar area ran along the left hand wall. There were ten handpumps in use on this visit, so we went for the Vale Brewery Punk is Dead.

The Winston Churchill used to be called the Norseman. It has now been reopened by Mr Wetherspoon and it is now called the Benjamin Fawcett.
