Brainy Pool left this review about The Shipping Forecast

as noted, the real ale has gone. It was always a bit of an afterthought in here in any case, it’s really a student-oriented night venue, with a vacuous chain-pub atmosphere in the afternoon. Very little fixed seating, it’s an uncomfortable dark place and I have never taken to it. In its current form, definitely not.

A large, opened out single roomer, that obviously used to be two. Kitchen on the right and bar on the left. No real ales on the bar when I visited. Lots of long tables as per usual for a student pub. I've been now, so I'll never feel the need to return.

This pub used to be 2 different pubs (Guinans and McSorleys) but has now been knocked into one. Its basically 1 ground floor room split into areas with a basement part that's used for live music. There are real ales available amongst the banks of student friendly beers. It was much better when it was the 2 pubs.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Shipping Forecast

This is very much a student hangout, which consisted of a two roomed area housed in the ground floor of a converted warehouse. There was a kitchen servery on the left of the entrance and the main bar was through an opening into a larger room. There was three hand pumps with only one in use serving Doombar and Old Rosie's cider. The interior is dimily lit, with lots of settees and undressed brick walls.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Shipping Forecast

Modern conversion of an old industrial/warehouse building, with a mixture of modern and retro furniture and decor. The limited window openings and dark brickwork give a rather gloomy feel. Basement club and music venue ('The Hold'). Styles itself as an 'Alehouse + Eatery', but only Harviestoun American IPA (£3.15, and somewhat cloudy) and Old Rosie cider were available from the five handpumps. (NB - Review dates from September 2011.)
