Will Larter left this review about The Kensington Tavern

An odd one, this, an old brick-built house with modern additions seeming slightly out of place in a street of mixed housing, small businesses and shops, all the buildings being at least 50 years younger, I would guuess, and some very recent indeed. It was fairly quiet here on my Sunday afternoon visit, but the landlord and a small group of regulars tried to make up for their lack of numbers with a bit of ribald banter. The tone of this can be gauged from the fact that the "house ale", the sole non-keg beer available, brewed by Ushers, is called Wrinkly Winkle; this may also account for the total lack of female customers. There were music videos playing on a screen in one corner, aimed at a rather different age group than all of those present. A distinct smell of cigarette smoke must have been the result of it drifting in from the external smoking area, as smoking indoors has been banned now for seven years.
