Will Larter left this review about The Stag Inn

A delightful pub in an equally lovely village with great views of the highest part of the Pennines. I was last here in 2000 when I was walking the Pennine Way, and had my worst day on the route to reach here, with four days still to go - I'm glad I don't have to do that again.

Inside, this is a two roomed basic village local which presumably gets busy at weekends but was very quiet on the Monday evening when I was here. The internal walls are exposed stone, with slate flags on the floor and a fireplace in each room. The bar is like a hatch cut into the wall and has four hand pumps. There were three beers on, all local: Old School Hopscotch and Chadwicks Kapellan and Autumn Ale. I gave the Kapellan a miss and had a pint of each of the others, which were both very nice beers in good condition.
