I was attempting to go in for a pint when I noticed that the pub was closed. By coincidence the owner was parking his van. He informed that after 17 years of running the place, he has decided to shut up shop. Sorry to informer the reviewer below of this sad time.

I was a bit concerned to find this closed at 6.30 on a Friday evening. All the pub/beer signs are still there though, so hopefully it's not a permanent situation.

A very attractive little pub, if you can find it. As the address suggests, it is hidden away up a “close,” although not a very wide one, leading off Lanark High Street. Vehicle access, via the narrow back streets, is difficult, so don’t get so drunk that you need a taxi. The bar is compact and cosy, with a real fire, and the enforced close proximity to other customers, both canine and human, creates a friendly atmosphere. The beer garden is almost as big as the inside bar and pleasantly devoid of traffic noise. It’s not one of the better known places in town, but well worth seeking out for a quiet drink.
