This is a Stonegate pub, so expect something akin to a downmarket 'spoons, but without the decent ale at cheap prices. This particular one, unlike other Stonegate pubs which I've visited, doesn't do real ale. They do of course sell the usual bogstandard lagers and Guinness, and of course basic pub grub style food is advertised on their glossy menus, including the usual meal deals.

This is an enormous pub. There are essentially two rooms - the main room on the left has a pool table, a couple of dartboards, a table football, games and fruit machines, as well as large screen TVs of course. Just like a 'spoons, there are tall tables/tall stools in the centre of the room, with booths by the windows. For some reason Premier League football club scarves are strung across the ceiling above the servery. I saw a quiz night advertised. The smaller room on the right seems to be the nicer of the two, as it is furnished with normal tables and chairs and lacks the sporting paraphernalia in the other room.

Finding positives about this pub isn't easy, but I'll try. The barmaid was friendly, and when the club sandwich came with mayonnaise when I had ordered it without, the chef apologised and offered a replacement. That's excellent service. Plus it was open at noon when the Plough down the road wasn't. But I doubt whether I'll visit again.
