The Moot is a chapel conversion and a bit of a Tardis as the pub goes quite a long was back once inside and is much bigger than it looks from the main road. Despite Alan’s high praise from a couple of years ago this is now a completely different place to the one he visited. The pub is just one large square with a small bar nestled in the far left corner. The pub is very plain with hard wooden floors and next to do distinguishable features just a few tables and chairs scattered around the outside and a pool table in the centre with lots of open space in the middle of the room. This is a very old and warn out place that looks very dated on the inside and frankly quite shabby. There were still four hand pulls on the bar from when this placed used to sell real ale but now sadly these have been dormant for a good few years. The keg line up was predictably poor with only John Smiths, carling, Theakston’s Mild (All £2.60) as well as Strongbow and Guinness at £3.10. I opted for Guinness and oh my good gad was is sour! It must have been resting in the pipes for a good six months past its sell by date and was a shade away from giving me some type of poisoning! It was swiftly returned and swapped for a mild but in all honesty how does someone mess it keg beer that badly, something unbelievably dodgy must be going on in the cellar that doesn’t warrant thinking about. We drank up and abruptly left almost certainly never to return. At least the bar girl refunded the difference I n the drink price unprompted which was a nice touch but sadly it was all too little too late. The pub was almost dead aside from a few down and out types. Really best avoided this one.

The Moot was converted from what i think was a chapel about 8 years ago.
This pub is a real ale mecca with about 8 handpumps serving mainly micro brewery beers there is also a choice of real ciders.
This pub is well worth seeking out and there are other decent pubs nearby.
