Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Playa

Wasn't expecting this detached seafront pub to be open, given the limited information available online, and even the notices on the doors suggested that it was shut for the winter However, it obviously was, and I found it doing good Friday lunchtime business too. The interior has been given a light, semi-modern refurbishment, and the front windows and narrow outside terrace have great views across the Thames estuary. A good Shepherd Neame Master Brew (£4.10) was available from one of the pair of handpumps, with Whitstable Bay Pale looking to be on next.

A large sea front pub mainly aimed at diners. There is a carpark at one side, and are some seats at the front offering spectacular views out to the Thames Estuary; you can see the WW2 forts and the modern wind farm in the distance. The single large bar has dining tables over most of its floor area, though there are a few comfy chairs at one side. The food smells good, but it is expensive for the area, so we didn't try it. The beer is also drastically overpriced, and not that well kept. Two ales on, both from Shepherd and Neame, I had the Late Red which was past its best and not particularly enjoyable. Fine to pop in for lunch, but the price and poor quality of its beer make it unlikely I would want to spend an evening here, especially in tourist season.

This pub is in a nice seafront location where a quick hop across the road and down a grass slope will gain access to the pebbled beach. There are four picnic tables at the front of the pub and also a nicely kept beer garden at the rear which has more picnic tables. The inside of the pub is in two halves with the bar area to the left and some seating on the right which was being used by diners during my lunchtime visit. This is a freehouse and there were two hand pumps on the bar which were drawing Flowers IPA and Master Brew alongside a standard draught selection. I had an enjoyable pint of Guinness that was served by a friendly young barmaid. It was busy with an older crowd during my Saturday afternoon visit and Formula 1 was on the large flat screen, although I didn’t spot any Sky Sports advertisements.

I thought that it was very pleasant in here and would have no problem popping back in again when next in the area.
