A slightly scruffy exterior, but don't let that put you off because this is a fine example of a traditional Scottish bar, with bar counter and back in varnished wood. The walls are decorated with pictures of local people and old farming practices in black and white. There is a TV set which everyone ignored, as the conversations flowed, in a mixture of Scottish and Gaelic, interrupted only by the occasional fag break. Only the usual Scottish fonts on the bar, so I had a half of Caledonian 80/-, which wasn't quite as cold as beer is often served in Scotland and became almost drinkable during the course of my stay here. This is the best of the pubs I visited in Stornoway, and if it served a real ale would be highly recommended.
