Soup Dragon left this review about The Pierhead Tavern

A multi-building pub and restaurant, that has live music and a patio area. It is in a coffee colour render, I think (forgot to note for once), with the restaurant to the left taller, but narrower part and the bar in the lower but wider part to the right.

I didn’t see the restaurant room. The interior of the bar has a stone faced serving bar that faces you on entry. It is a straight room, with a pool table and dart board at one end. The walls are of white and brown, with a white and beam ceiling and a fake tile floor. The pictures were varied landscapes, mainly of Arran and a few footy teams. The place does both restaurant (main) meals and a bar menu, we had a basket meal which was decent enough and good value for Arran prices. The TV had the snooker on and there was no background music. The service was fine and there were a few regulars in the bar area.

Beer; no real ale, sadly. Keg stuff saw a McEwans 60/- tap, which proved not to be on and a decent enough tap McEwans 70/-.

Sadly, it lacks a real ale, as it has the pub games and so forth – the 60/- adds a bit more for a MILD drinker like me, again, sadly this wasn’t on. Far better than the Drift Inn nearby, I would stop off here again.
