Soup Dragon left this review about The Kildonan Hotel

The Kildonan is a large detached Victorian hotel overlooking the sea-front. It has a restaurant (with a modern conservatory area too) and an integral bar and shop! It is in white render, with green paint work, with a beer garden area, which also has some strange sculpture in. It have music nights and host weddings.

The interior of the bar room is in red and white, with some wood panel walls. It has a red ceiling and wood floor. There seemed a lot of landscape photos on the walls, some of which seemed to be for sale. There is a pool table and a dart board. I didn’t eat, so can’t comment on that. There was no TV that I saw and the music was general and at a decent level. The clientele was mixed and mainly outside enjoying the sun, like myself. The service was fine.

Beer; all keg stuff, no real ale. Boddingtons, Stella, Lode English Cider and a decent Guinness to name a few.

Most drinking establishments on Arran are either hotels with bars, or restaurants with them. This is as nice as any, especially with the grounds and sea-view. Sadly, it just lacks a real ale for me, as several do around the Isle, but still a worthy stop-off.
