Plans for a retirement complex on the site have been given the go ahead after the developer’s appeal to overturn city planners’ original refusal was upheld.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Wylde Green

This Hungry Horse outlet doesn't look that large from the main road or from the front bar, but there are a number of additional seating / dining areas as you go further back. Uninspiring semi-modern furniture and decor throughout, and a basic family-friendly menu supplemented by a couple of 'specials' on laminated notices. Just Greene King IPA and Abbot from two banks of three handpumps on different parts of the counter.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Wylde Green

A detached Hungry Horse chain pub/eatery. It is in 30s looking undressed brick and cream, with front patio area and a rea patio over-looking the Wylde Green Bowling Club's green.

The interior is a large L-shaped room and of course, it is mainly food based, so decked out in tables and chairs. There is though, at the front of the place, a bar area with a pool table and a TV, which had the rugby on. There is a nother TV at the far end (in the eating area). The place is in the gneral cream, red and wood panel, with some patterned wallpaper and a snazzy carpet. There are, annoyingly, in true Ember Inns style, lots and lots and lots of vases on 'bookcases'. The service was fine and the place rammed with families and a general mixed clientele.

Beer; usual tap stuff with three real ale handpulls, all from Greene King. The Ale Fresco had ran out, leaving the Abbott and IPA as the unexiting choice. I had a half of IPA, which i couldn't actually finish as it is a dull drink when on top form, which it wasn't.

It is what it is and best used when you want to eat - even if it is GK beer. I thankfully went outside to enjoy this place.
