A good-looking white-painted building whose façade has been spoilt somewhat by the addition of a flat-roofed extension which turns out to be the dining room. There's a public bar whose entrance (to the left) was closed at the time of my lunchtime visit - maybe it opens in the evenings, but there were a few locals gathered around the bar in the lounge. This is a very pleasant and comfortably furnished room, though the half dozen stuffed fish mounted high up on the walls might quibble at this description. The bar is in the corner, with wood panelling and a few high stools. There's no real ale, as expected, so I made do with a McEwans 80/-. I suppose one could get used to drinking this stuff, but a real ale would have gone down a treat, I can tell you.

The only drinking option in Lochboisdale, the "capital" of South Uist. There is a small and rather basic public bar and a larger lounge which sells food. Excellent views over the Minch if you can get a window seat.
