This is the longest spoons I’ve ever been in with the bogs at the furthest reaches back but at least they’re on the ground floor, the disabled toilet is only halfway. I could be cruel and a little unfair to say it would be difficult for the staff in this spoons to rise to the level of incompetent, but working in Ponte Carlo on a busy Saturday night must be quite stressful. The beer quality was fine if a very, very short measure but the bar service plumbed the depths, how could anyone mistake an order for Stancil as one for John Smiths Smooth is beyond me.

The Broken Bridge is an old school shop conversion which despite the small frontage extends back for what seems like miles. The fixtures and fittings are fairly typical. It was quite busy on my Wednesday afternoon visit but it's so large that finding a seat was easy.
There are two sets of five hand pumps which had the two GK beers doubled, two ciders, Little Critters Hazelnut Milk Stout & Chameleon Simcoe, Hop Studio India IPA and Ossett Big Red. I went for the Chameleon Simcoe (£1.99) which was in good nick.
I thought this was a decent Spoons but set in an uninspiring building.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Broken Bridge (JD Wetherspoon)

Typical shop-conversion 'spoons with a generally dark interior and a mix of seating areas. Against my bah-humbug instincts, however, I thought that the relatively restrained gold-coloured Christmas decorations actually did work quite well. Two banks of five handpumps, but with four 'Available Soon' labels (on the most interesting clips, of course) the real ale choice was pretty poor (with the Partners Stout, £2.15, being the only less-usual offering).

The Broken Bridge is a Spoons which looks quite small from the outside.
Once inside there is one very long room which runs to the rear and seems to narrow the further back you go,which is quite a way.
There are normal tables and chairs to the front with the bar on the left side, there are tall tables and chairs in the bar area the rear area which seem miles back has normal tables and chairs.
There were the usual Spoons real ales on plus one of those weird collaboration beers which i never drink,i had a drink of Exmoor Gold which went down very well, the other real ales were Partners Citra,Acorn Old Moor Porter and Theakston Old Peculiar.
The pub was packed on my Wednesday dinner visit, but the service was very good with one bar person just doing coffees so there was a big queue for those, while beer drinkers and those wanting food were served by three other staff.

Long slender unremarkable JDW pub, close to the market square.Called in around 10-30 before before our annual trip to the races I found the bar service quite efficient, and a good selection of cask beers was on offer from as little as £1.49p a pint.
