Steve C left this review about The Beaver

This pub has been closed for some time, but it used to be a proper estate boozer where some of the dodgiest villains in West London used to drink as this pub is located on the outskirts of the Beavers Estate which has always had a bad reputation as the training ground for Jeremy Kyle guests. The last time I was in here was circa 1997 when a western style fight kicked off outside between some local hoodlums and a few squadies from the barracks up the road. My step dad used to drink in here more than me and he has witnessed all kinds of dodgy behaviour, but the crowning glory was when the pub was raided by police in riot vans accompanied by armed police as they searched for a local resident.

The pub itself was the usual square 1970s fit for purpose brick building with a couple of picnic tables outside. The interior was nothing out of the ordinary, but it was clean and there were a couple of pool tables at the far right hand side of the long bar. I found the staff to be friendly enough, but the Alsatians that roamed the private roof terrace were threatening and barked at all passers by.

The demise of this pub will not affect the discerning pub community, but there is now a distinct lack of pubs in this corner of Hounslow West for the locals

For interest, a picture of this now closed pub can be found on the Hounslow and Richmond CAMRA website.
