Formerly a fairly ordinary Marstons boozer, but back in the day this was a coaching inn. Now it seems to have been reinvented as a pub with rooms - there ought to be a word for that: how about "inn"? A lot of money seems to have been spent, with the pub entrance and the bar being moved towards the back of the building to make room for the entrance to the rooms above, totally separate from the pub. Half a dozen shiny stainless steel hand pumps have four beers on, mostly local. I went for a beer called Goodnight Vienna from Drone Valley brewery just up the road, which was in good condition. The decor and furniture were attractive, but the background music was a bit tinny - perhaps they could get some better quality speakers, if there's any money left.

A traditional pub. Basically in 2 parts with a pool table to your right as you enter and a small snug like place to the left. 3 handpumps on the bar with only Hobgob on. It may well be traditional but it was also disappointing.

This pub is exactly what it says under the name sign. A Good Traditional Pub. The manager and bar staff are friendly, cheerful and very helpful. There are two comfortable rooms where families are welcome, though food is not served. This is a very old house with all the character and charm that comes with age. Close to the main shopping areas, bus station and car parking it's in a convenient spot. All age groups are comfortable here and there's a decent Karaoke at week ends.
