I had exactly the same experience here in 2009 and vowed never to go in there again. On my last two visits to Edale (August 2010) there were signs indicating new management, but Alan Winfield's experience in May suggests there's been no change to their ideas on customer service. When it happened to me I just asked for my money back and went to the Nags Head instead. I suggest everyone does the same until whoever's running the place gets the message (unless there really are new managers, in which case please let us know and we'll come and try you again).

This is a large food pub very close to edale rail station.There were four beers on the bar these were Bradfield farmers Biter,O'Hanlons Fire Fly,Grays Best and Grays Englands Glory.there were plenty of empty tabels so i sat down only to be told these were for diners only so i had to stand up,the beer was ok but dont rate the pub that much.
