A busy Craft Union pub with no real ale. There's a walled seating area in front of the pub which was pretty busy when I stopped here on my way to a football match in North Ferriby on a sunny Saturday last summer. (There's another beer garden at the back which I didn't check out.) My experience of people in Hull is that they're pretty friendly, and my Leeds Rhinos cap, on my head again after our win at Craven Park the night before, prompted a few people to have a chat with me about rugby league, and - as I was on my way to watch Hallam FC lose - non-league football as well. The beer was less interesting than the conversation, with Worthington Creamflow only as ordinary as was to be expected.

This pub is a part of a post-war range of buildings, with a flat glass frontage and a patio area both at the front and the back. The interior is an open plan room, a large square area by the serving bar and a narrower area to the rear. Decor is cream, generally. There is pool and darts and TVs showing sport. No music played, but there appears to be a big sound system. A few rugby league shirts decorate. Service was functional and there were a couple of people in. Beer has no real ale, just basic tap stuff, so another half of John Smith's Smooth. Nothing for me personally, one for the regulars.
