Pub SignMan left this review about The Peacock Inn

Situated at the western end of the famous 'Brampton Mile' - a mile long stretch of the Chatsworth Road with ten or so pubs along it - the Peacock Inn is a welcoming, two room traditional pub. The lounge bar is on the left hand side of the pub and is carpeted with lots of dark wood beams lined with horse brasses and other such trinkets. A brick fireplace was lit on the left hand wall and had what I presumed was the pub's old sign hung above it. Banquettes and low stools lined the front wall, with some higher tables and bar stools in the middle of the room. The tap room is to the right of the building and was very busy on my early evening visit. I didn't get a good look round, but I did spot a huge aerial photograph of the local area on the right hand wall. I got a really warm welcome from the landlord and locals who were trying to get me to join in with an impromptu quiz they had set up. Even the pub dog was friendly, although he soon got bored of me and went back to lying in front of the fire.
Three house beers in the shape of Tetley's Cask, Black Sheep Golden Sheep and Deuchars IPA were complimented by two guests which were Sharp's Doom Bar and something else which was more interesting, but despite trying a pint, I forgot to make a note of it. Whatever it was, I paid £2.80 for it and it was a decent enough pint of bitter in good condition.
I thought this was a great little pub and I can imagine that several attempts at the Brampton Mile will have made it no further than here. If I lived nearby I would be proud to call this place my local and really the place is only let down by a fairly uninspiring beer range.
