The exterior of the Great Northern Hotel looks uncared for and that carried on inside once you have negotiated the revolving door. The check in is infront, the bar to the left.It has various sections but all were full of very tired furniture and many worn sofas which are difficult to get out of should you settle in one. It's quite gloomy inside, and the bar was still festooned with Covid screens with just a narrow gap to pay for and collect drinks. The receptionist doubles as the barmaid ,so you have to ring a bell for service.
The three handpumps stood felourn with just a Doom Bar clip reversed. That left very mainstream keg ,my half of Guiness tasted rank.Next time I have half an hour to kill,I will get a coffee at the station.I can see no reason to venture inside this sad and univiting space.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Sleepers Bar (Great Northern Hotel)

Very much an upmarket hotel bar, albeit set within a historic building directly opposite the main station entrance. Several small seating areas around the servery, all with modern leather chairs and sofas and rather bland decoration. On the plus side, there are three handpumps on the counter, and these were dispensing Rutland Osprey (£4.00) and the seasonal Calcutta from Grainstore plus Stony Ford's Sheepmarket Supernova Straw.

Typical expensive hotel prices but there was some decent real ale to be had. Handy for the train station.

Whatpub has an interesting write up about this Hotel, so that should save me a bit of keyboarding. They also had three Grainstore beers on handpump, we went for the Ten Fifty and the Steelback IPA and I agree with Will, that their beers were pricey. The bar is situated on the left from the reception area and the majority of the room was over cluttered with tables and chairs. A large screen on the back wall providing a catch up on Sky TV. There was also a small patio area out front for those sun worshippers. The beer condition was excellent and agree this is a handy pit stop before the train.

Will Larter left this review about Great Northern Hotel

This railway hotel gets good marks for its proximity to the station and for having three Grainstore beers on hand pump. Marks are lost for being too much like a hotel bar and not enough like a pub, in particular for charging £3.90 a pint. Admittedly it was a good beer, but at 50p a pint more than any other pub in town, it left a bad taste before boarding our train out of here.

Across the road from Peterborough train station. The public bar is on the left usual draught selection. Does the job if time to kill between trains.
