This building was previously a cinema before becoming part of the Baroosh chain. McMullen then purchased and the pub reopened after a refurbishment as Town and Gown that operates as a pub and theatre. A photo booth in the doorway set off my alarm bells, but my visit being before lunch on Friday meant that the demographic this horror is aimed at were probably still in bed. The bar area is at street-level to the right where a bar counter runs across the rear wall. The four hand pumps were doubled up with AK and Rivertown Quin, both of which seem to be from McMullen. Three Rivertown keg products were also available alongside premium keg options. I went for the AK which looked a bit suspect, but tasted OK for a mild. A row of tables is faced by the bar counter before a shuffleboard table and then booths that run across the front windows. Steps to the left lead up to seating and stairs at the rear lead up to the first floor theatre bar and a door to the theatre at the top of the building. I expect that if gets quite busy in here when there’s a play or show on, but I don’t plan on revisiting.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Town & Gown

McMullen pub and theatre, featuring a split-level bar, some decorative brewing vessels on the bar-back, four indoor pods, a shuffleboard table and a 'secret' roof terrace. Traditional AK and Quin from the Rivertown brand (£2.85, half) on the four handpumps, with several more of the brewery's beers on the keg taps.

Only two cask ales on, but for a trendy looking bar that's not too bad I guess. I went for the McMullens Baroosh Pale Ale at £2 for a half. The other was a bitter by Riverside(?). Big open plan place, quite nice interior. Not busy at the time of my visit but I can imagine it gets quite popular.
