E TA left this review about The Bittern

A large square 1930s building which was once a post office. Part of the grounds have been hived off and used for residential building though there remains a good sized garden with outside facilities, and there is a small parking area. It’s owned by Punch and listed as an ACV. Inside, it’s open plan and feels more like a large sports club than a pub. There are TV screens everywhere showing sports events, plus there are multiple gaming machines, a juke box and a pool table. The landlord was chatty and friendly, and he was very willing to chat about his beers – what a shame there wasn’t more for him to say. The only ale on was Doombar, though he told us there was another ale – he couldn’t remember what – soon to be ready for tapping. Keg choices were Cruzcampo, Guinness, John Smith’s, Carling, Fosters and Stella. It’s a bit rough and ready, but it’s great to see it still open.
