Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Pendulum

1980s local shopping centre pub of unusual pyramidal design. Retains a twin-bar layout, with a plain but busy public bar with a pool table and a quieter split-level lounge with space set aside for the advertised karaoke events. No real ale, unfortunately, so made do with the inevitable John Smith's (although this cost just £2.50).

Soup Dragon left this review about The Pendulum

A bizarre shaped pub with a bizarre name that is a part of a 70/80s estate and shopping complex - and one i have not been to for 15 years. You could be forgiven for thinking it is an American Gospel Church or something, with its white walls dwarfed by its pyramid roof. As for the name, i am glad they used Poe's Pendulum in stead of The Pit! The interior has a couple of rooms. The lounge is to the right. It isd quite narrow and on split levels as it curves around the bar. It is in white and coffee, with patterned carpet. There are a few prints on the walls and a TV, showing sport. The bar is to the left. It has two areas, one half has darts and pool, while the other has brown perimeter seating. Several TVs adorn the walls, with sport on. It is in white. The service was friendly and there were a few locals in either side. They do food, but i didn't eat, so can't comment on that. Beer; no real ale, just the usual keg drinks with Banks's MILD. I had a shandy. A pleasant enough experience, just nothing for the real ale fan.

Ale Monster left this review about The Pendulum

A quaint bungalow style community pub which is owned by Mitchell’s and Butlers and was built in the 80’s for the new estate. The interior consists of two small rooms that are entered via a small porch at the front of the building, the pub has a central bar that serves both rooms. On the left is the public bar with a small bar counter on the right, a pool table and dart board at the front near the door, brown leather bench seats and a large flat screen TV in the back left hand corner. To the right is a slightly larger lounge with the curved bar counter on the left straight opposite the door, on the right of the room are several tables up a couple of steps on a raised level, on the left hand wall between the door and the bar counter is a large flat screen TV, the décor throughout the pub is fairly plain with only a couple of paintings dotted around. No food served as far as I could see.

No real ale, but Banks’s Bitter and John Smiths Bitter on keg. Sorry, this is my standard review format, so I had to write something!

This is a local’s pub that gets very busy at the weekends, it has had new owners since July who have spruced up the interior with new leather seats in the bar and a lick of paint in both rooms. Not really my kind of place as there is no proper beer but it’s ok for a quick pint of the fake stuff while the Mrs does the shopping at the nearby Morrison’s! Oh dear that wasn’t very politically correct was it? I might get in trouble for that one!
