Soup Dragon left this review about Royal Oak

A detached 20th cent white painted brick pub, with patio area. I assume the pub was built when the estate was built after WWII

The interior has three rooms that i saw. The lounge is accessed separately and is a jump straight from the 80s in that it has the fake chiselled beams all over the salmon, blue and white walls and white artex ceiling. There are a couple of undressed brick fireplaces and plenty of stools and round tables, as well as general prints on the walls - i liked this room, but some guy was setting up to do so singing so i left the few mature customers to head to the bar. The bar room is in a red, chocolate colour and some wood panel and a white ceiling. It has darts and a pool table, as well as a couple of TVs, showing the Ashes day's play. There were a few sporting pictures on the walls and a more mixed local clientele. There seems to be a snug room at the far end, in green, but didn't go in here. The service was friendly.

Beer; tap stuff, no real ale. Banks's MILD and Bitter on keg - i had a bitter shandy

A locals place really; a community pub. It is perfectly friendly but with the lack of real ale and being slightly off the beaten track, it is unlikely i would return.
