Having arrived here at around 10 we were told that they couldn't serve alcohol until 11 on Police instruction. After heading elsewhere we returned just after 11 to find the place packed. I am not a fan of plastic glasses so it was a quick pint and move on. Glad to have ticked it off but nothing to make me want to return.

A new build 'spoons ,the interior does at least wind around and the low ceiling gives a modicom of character. You will need to push around to the semi circular glass glad seating area if you want Thames views, and this was packed with the unfit, infirm and decrepit in a scene that could easily be described as God's Waiting Room. The rest of the interior had mainly high tables and drinking shelves, while the bar was in a dark corner. The ale selection was the regular horror show of Doom Bar,GK IPA and Abbott and London Pride while guests were the ever awful Hobgoblin Gold and Bombardier together with Long Man Copper Hop,Jennings Snecklifter and Burton Bridge Draught Burton Ale (didn't taste of much).
This pub just reminds me how poor some Wetherspoons can be,unexciting guest ales,a depressing vibe and although it maybe cheap,it's cheap for a very good reason .Avoid.

This is one of Wetherspoons newer London offerings having opened in 2010. Generally speaking it's a lot different to the usual Spoons although the bar area seemed to have the usual daytime Spoons crowd. The pub is on the ground floor of a block of trendy riverside apartments and was a cocktail bar and eatery before Spoons moved in. I could see nothing to stop you having a drink away from the bar area. There were 8 pumps, two with GK IPA, two ciders, Doombar and three ales still going from the Festival. These were being sold off at £1.99 so I don't know what the normal price would be. The Mordue Oatmeal Stout I tried was in good condition.

The Rocket is a modern Wetherspoons opened in April 2010 and the main attraction is excellent uninterrupted views of the River Thames from both the large internal light and airy dining area section or the outside tables by the waterside.
We chose to utilise it when attending a concert at the nearby Fulham Palace and needed somewhere for a group to meet up for reasonably priced early evening scoff before having to move off fairly sharpish and in this respect it was a reliable option in that we could book a table and the usual Wetherspoons plastic food menu was promptly served.
If this was Wetherspoons attempt to go upmarket, then they seem to have shelved that idea as the table service has disappeared and you have to go and queue up at the small (by ‘spoons standards) bar area to order. This is not reflected in the prices however as these remain higher than the normal high street ‘spoons. However to put it into perspective, this still means it is a cheap option compared to other local options.
Also still disappointing on the beer front as the 8 pumps mainly had the standard house Ale options on and there was only one guest ale that I could see. However, on a fine summers evening like last Friday the outdoor sections to the left and front of the pub at least give a decent option for an alfresco pint to the small internal drink only sections.
Would I bother to come back just for a pint ?. Probably not as there a plenty of good waterside option in this area. Would I utilise it again for reasonable priced eats when in the area again. Probably.

This modern Wetherspoons is situated in an attractive riverside location next to Putney Bridge with a curved glass frontage commanding views across the Thames.

This is certainly one of the more unusual Wetherspoons in that the main body of the pub (i.e the best bit) is designated for diners and even has table service. Food prices are slightly higher than normal to reflect this de-luxe Gastrospoons service and even the “club” food and beer offers are the highest prices I have come across. By way of contrast, the Golden Lion on the other side of the bridge does a curry and a pint £3 cheaper than the Rocket on the same night - it seems we have reached a stage where ‘Spoons is maybe no longer the flagbearer of cheap and cheerful that it used to be.

If you are a mere drinker, you are restricted to the narrow main bar area with a handfulof high tables and a few seats in some tucked away side sections which, as you would expect, get heavingly busy on Fulham match days which makes it even more frustrating to have three quarters of the pub reserved for diners. There are the usual plethora of displays and old puictures, a couple of silent screens and a cabinet containing a selection of board games if you prefer a bit of snakes and ladders.

Beer wise, I have been here a couple of times recently and the ale selection and the quality haven’t always been up to scratch with just 2 guests usually available across the 8 hand pumps and unusually for ‘Spoons, I have had the occasionally substandard quality pint although my last 2 visits have been an improvement.

‘Spoons don’t generally do posh and on the whole I am not fully enamoured with what they are trying to achieve here. Personally, I would rather pay the extra quid a pint and go to the Bricklayers down the road.

This is indeed a most labarynthine pub, and I don’t think I’ve ever been in one so long before finding the bar counter. Nonetheless, for a ‘spoons it does seem very upmarket, and I even spotted a waiter providing table service by carrying a tray of drinks over to a table. That’s a first for me in a ‘spoons. I think the prices were a tad more expensive than the average ‘spoons, although £5 for two pints is still good going, possibly with a premium loading for the riverside location. Anyway, the pint of Butcombe Bitter that I had was in excellent nick, although a little too cold – but isn’t that always the case in a ‘spoons?
I though that this was a comfortable pub, being a bit more traditional in feel than most ‘spoons interiors, and I would be happy to visit again.

This is a modern purpose built Wetherspoons which is part of a large riverside development of flats, offices and bars. We entered through what seemed to be the restaurant section ad it actually took us a minute or two to find the bar, which is tucked away behind a wall at the back. The pub is, unusually for the brand, a bit of a warren with various nooks and crannies. Decor includes the usual potted histories and biographies, many of which have very tenuous links with the Putney area.
There are two banks of handpumps on the bar, one carrying the usual 'spoons suspects and another four with the guests. £5 for two pints here, a bit dearer than 'spoons usual prices, and notably not displayed on the pumps. My pint of Grainstore Gold was fine however but the previous comments about quality are noted and were further reinforced later that evening while chatting to someone in The Bricklayers.
Certainly not your usual Wetherspoons and seemingly with a totally different target market.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rocket (JD Wetherspoon)

Located in a nice spot overlooking the Thames, with plenty of window seats (although most of these are restricted to those dining). There is also some outside seating around the curved frontage. Only five of the eight handpumps were in operation, with Brains SA Gold (£2.50) being the only vaguely unusual beer on offer. Most notable feature - the ridiculously small handbasins in the (gents) toilets! (NB - Review dates from August 2011.)

This is a large venue with a bar area, lounge type area and big restaurant looking out over the Thames. A little like a hotel complex really.

No draught of any description is available and every drink is served with a little napkin. I gave the correct money so I don't know if the change is given on a little silver tray, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is.

If you like pubs I'd suggest skipping this place.
