ROB Camra left this review about Loopy Shrew

Called in twice during our two days in Shrewsbury. Couldn't get served either time due to incompetent staff. The fact that they only had one boring beer on the handpulls didn't encourage us to stick it out either.

Trendy bar place nicely furnished with sofas, proper sized tables and chairs and some stools at benches. There’s a more restauranty bit at the back. Three pulls on the counter but just a mediocre Stonehouse beer on offer, prosaic kegs, usual spirits etc.

Though its now called The Loopy Shrew it seems to the same layout as Mr Great describes below. There were 2 handpumps on the bar, both serving Salopian beers.

Now re-opened after a short time as a Noodle Bar this is the public bar and restuarant of the Bellstone Hotel .
The Hotel gets its name from a large Rock situated just around the corner in the courtyard of Morris Hall , the Bellstone , where a young Charles Darwin first took an intrest in Geology , every year people gather around the stone to toast the Great Man on his Birthday .
The Bar has had a complete change round , the entrance is on the corner of the building , the lower level has a selection of leather sofas and low tables , the upper level has the bar , with a very ornate modern back-bar , there is a dining area further back complete with life size Zebra ?
, its all very up-market modern in here .
Clientelle was a good mix of young girlies having a bite to eat and a few bottles of fizz , a few couples and a couple of well dressed old boys having a quiet pint at the bar .
Usual selection of Keg Taps and a couple of real ales , Salopian Hop Twister and a decent Stonehouse Station Bitter at a reasonable £3.30 a pint , not to bad for an upmarket hotel bar .

Refurbished public bar of the Bellstone Hotel , the main bar area is L shaped and on two levels there is a resturant to the rear and an outside patio area , its a lot bigger than it looks . Its quite trendy in here , lots of light wood and large mirrors , customers seemed mainly to be younger white collar types , the usual fizzy beers on tap plus three handpulls , two of which were on with Joules Blonde and Stumbling Monk , the Blonde was pretty good if a tad warm . Not a bad place if a tad pricey .
